Homeschooling is something I knew I would be doing with my children since I met my husband when we were 15. I was not homeschooled. I went to public school like most others. My husband was homeschooled his whole life. Back then I thought it was "cool." Though I don't remember having heard of homeschooling before I met my future husband, it was just natural that I wanted to homeschool my own children some day. So here I am, 16 years later and ready to sprout the seed that was planted so long ago.
The decision to homeschool hasn't always been an easy one for me. Having 3 young children in the house has been stressful at times and I have thought about sending our children to public school. But I knew that was taking the easy route. No one has said homeschooling is easy, but many parents and children both have shared the blessings that have come from homeschooling.
So why are we homeschooling? It's not even a decision we have really sat down and discussed much. So I don't even know if I could put it into writing. Or even in one post if I could. As Christians, we want to raise our children up in the admonition of the Lord, and having our children home with us not only will teach them the ways of the Lord, but it is also giving them a relationship with us that they would never receive in a public school. We are investing SO much in our children when we homeschool.
I'm excited at what the next year (years) have in store for us. I'm hoping my next post will talk about my plans for this coming school year.
